  1. This is Craig Ducking Sr and after viewing the first four videos a couple thing stick out to me. Like where they get statistics from, how much time they put in making the documentary. And i really dont think after watching the videos any of my habits are going to change. Its amazing how much food we consume in a lifetime. And I love some of there examples but as for my habits im not going to change them because there not that bad.Could be better but not bad.

  2. Craig, the statistics are based on national consumption studies. I think in general a lot of feel that we do have good habits, I am one of them, but these videos did point out to me some areas where I could make improvements.

  3. It is amazing to see the amount of food we consume in a lifetime. I find it really alarming that the average person will eat far more candy bars than bananas. One thing that I think about now, that I didn’t much before these videos is most “products” are not just one product. It takes several products combined to make the products we consume. When you start factoring that in it really starts to boggle your mind. I can’t think of a specific habit that I will change at the moment, but I am sure as I go about my days I will find a thing or two to change. –Shannon Webber

  4. Shannon, as this series progresses, it really is shocking to see what we use and even more importantly waste. It is also sad, that we do eat more candy bars than bananas, but that is a habit we can all work on to change.

  5. Hi my name is Mae Farley after viewing the 4 videos I must say that was still amazed at the amount of food I will eat and waste during my lifetime. I love eating hamburgers and I was very shocked to learn that all the hamburgers and buns I will eat during my lifetime will amount to the weight of a car. I am sure there are plenty things that I need to change, but I think I will focus on being careful with what I eat, how much I eat and how much I waste.

  6. Mae, it is crazy to think that the average American eats the weight of a car in burgers and buns. We have to eat to survive, but the waste issue is one that I feel we can make a big difference in.

  7. Its amy here and im still amazed at how many canned soda will be drank in one life time. I absolutly agree with the waste issue being one we can change. I try to recycle and reuse what i can. There is just so many things in nonreusable packageing. It really is incredible how much meat one person will consume, and bread products.

  8. Some of the statistics in the video seem almost unbelievable, until I started evaluating the things I do on a daily basis. I am not a wasteful person, or so I thought. We make some effort to try and recycle, but there are so many things that I never knew could be recycled, or reused. For instance, I go through about three or four water bottles on a daily basis, I could just have one water bottle and keep refilling it, instead of using a new plastic bottle every time. Some waste is expected, but by cutting down just a little waste on a daily basis will add up to a huge amount over a lifespan. For this to really have an impact, though, it would take many people cutting back. We could also help the waste issue by buying products made from recycled goods. I still can't believe how much food we eat!- Chase Webber

  9. After viewing the series so far about our human footprint it is still surprising to me how much we consume and use in our lifetime. I really appreciate being educated about our use. Since I have been informed now I can make better educated choices in what I buy and decrease my amount of waste.

  10. The Human Footprint
Hi this is Cynthia, after watching the video's I am really surprised at what makes the world go around. The amount of food we eat and the amount of water we use. More so, you really don't ever consider how much trash one person contributes. In the one video it explains that fruit is stored in a warehouse up to one year. The sprays and pesticides that are used to prolong the life of our foods can not be good for us. After seeing these videos, I think the only thing that I know I could change to make a difference is to start recycling my plastic containers, cardboard, glass, etc.

  11. After viewing the first four videos, it is shocking to see how much food we consume and waste we produce. I was really surprised how much soda we consume and in turn how much trash it accumulates. Also its crazy to know we drink more sodas in our lifetime than we take showers! I definitely think my habits will change, I will try to monitor my waste habits and continue to recycle as much as I can. If by tweaking small daily habits I can help reduce the amount of waste then I will definitely be contributing to a good cause.

  12. This is Constance Celeste: Watching the Human Footprint, I took notes concerning our consumption. Throughout my life I would not consider myself a waster. However, through watching this documentary, there is definitely room for improvement. We have all seen Sci-Fi movies of the world being in an awful state because of the abuse of previous generations. Watching this video makes those movies seem accurate rather than far-fetched. I pray that God will give us all a better ability to conserve and not waste. God's Blessings

  13. This is Tara. Watch the Human Footprint is a eye opener. I never would have thought that one person can consume so much in a lifetime.Hamburgers are an American favorite, it was suprising to learn that ina lifetime a person can consume enough burgers to weigh as much as a vehicle. The amount of products that we waste was also an important part. Seeing the amount of potential waste in a lifetme was also a lifetime. After watching these videos I will try to waste less and recycle what items I can.

  14. This is Joyce Centrella. I think all four videos have made me think about how much food we eat in a lifetime. It really makes you think about the types of food that you consume. I know our family has been really trying to be more aware of the waste. We are recycling more and are very careful about buying anything in plastic. I know I drink a lot of soda but to actually see all those cans made me realize that I really need to cut back and drink more water.

  15. After watching The Human footprint, I am amazed of the amount of products, food and resources we use in a lifetime. I has know idea of the processed foods, fruits and vegetables, water, and health care products we consume. I started out writing down some of the statistics, but the numbers got to be so big, I gave up.

  16. Hi, this is Ella Salter,
The "Human Footprint" videoes was very educational as well as informative. Its hard to change habit that has set your life for a lifetime. However, I never thought the amount of hamburger buns that is consumed a lifetime of a person would be 4700 billion and would have the weight of a family car. Nor with a shower we use 1.2 million gallons of water and without a shower we use 1.8 million gallons of water in a lifetime. Because of these videos I am looking at what habits I can change for the better.

  17. This is Sara Torres. After watching these videos, I found it amazing at how much we consume in our lifetime. I really enjoy the demonstrations they use and the many "visuals" such as the milk, bread, oranges and bananas we eat. I could not believe that approximately 2,000 cans of soda are popped open each second! It's no wonder we have so many health problems when we are drinking so many cokes! I did find it interesting however that we will drink more cokes in our lifetime than take showes. We will drink approximately double the amount of cokes than we will shower. :)

  18. Hello, I'm Karleen Hatcher. It was really interesting and refreshing to watch the Human footprint videos. I never could of imagined how much we do use and consume in a lifetime. I love how they were possible for us to visualize everything. I'm a heavy soda drinker and it actually alarmed me how much sodas an average person will drink so I really scared about how much I will consume and what damage it may do to my body. It was interesting to see what was ingredients were used to make diapers, how much we eat in each category of food, and the recyclable items we throw away.

  19. Hello Catina Moore here, After watching the videos I was amazed on how much we as a whole consume on a day to day basis that adds up to an enormous amount in a year better yet a lifetime. Yes, these videos has stared something up in me that makes me want to change my normal unconscious way of doing things, that can help improve our environment. The number one change, is to use less time when taking a shower and to begin to recycle more. This is just to name a few of the many changing that will commit to do.

  20. Hey, this is Michelle Gonzalez and I have really been amazed by the content in these videos. I cannot believe the amount of food we consume and waste throughout our life time. I also am amazed at the amount of diapers I must have used with all of my five children. I have really enjoyed watching them.

  21. Hey, This is Jennifer Ward. These videos have been a real eye opener for me. It's crazy how much food and milk we consume. I am still amazed at the dipars that a child uses. These videos will make a person think about how they can charge there lifes and do thinks a little different.

  22. After reviewing all three videos I was shocked. I never noticed how much waste we accumilte throughout the year. I knew it was lots but I had no idea of the exact amount. Water is a big waste for me. I know I play a part in water waste. I take google amounts of showers along with washing dishes freqently. I would play my part in helping by shorting up my showers to no more then 15 minutes and from three times a day to the most two.

  23. After seeing all three videos, I had a better understanding of what we really waste and use each day. It accumlates to so much over a year, its crazy! Water is a big waste for me, I would lower the waste by cutting down shower time and to be mindful when brushing teeth or cleaning a dish.

  24. Cell phones: It use to be that only the very rich had car phones, now everyone has a cell phone and it is difficult to find a pay phone. It is very scary that the chemical used to create cell phones is another product that creates havoc in the same continent that chocolate is raping the land. God has placed so many natural resources in this beautiful country, yet because of our needs, the people of this country suffer greatly. What can be done? I want to fight against slavery in the chocolate industry and now I see there is yet another atrocity being committed. Help Lord!

  25. My reaction since watching the first 4 videos is to determine where I can make a change in my own carbon footprint. Since I was unaware of the many areas we as Americans are wasteful in it was very surprising. Yes, my habits will change. It’s been so very enlightening watching these videos.

  26. The human footprint videos have made me think about how much we waste every day. The cell phone problem is very true. I know that so many people that upgrade then say they just trash them. I always ask them to give them to me as I belong to the Pilot Club and we donate them to the Abuse Women's Shelter to be used for emergencies. We now think about what we are buying and we have started decluttering our home and giving away what we don't use. We all need to recycle and reuse whenever we can.

  27. Another thing that destrubed was the fact that some many products were needed to make diapers, which come on people they are used for human waste,as a mther of 5,I was and am in complete shock!!!

  29. I did not realize how much materials that we use as individuals. I love fruit and never would have thought that bananas and oranges will have traveled millions of miles before reaching us . After watching these videos I have tried to recycle more than just throwing things away. I also don't fill the tub as much when letting my little girl play in the tub.

  30. Absolutely they will. it's incredible how you loose sight of so much because you are busy from day to day. We look for convenience and the easy and fastest way to get things done without looking at the consequences. We don't like to be inconvenienced or we are no willing to make sacrifices and that should change. I admire my sister for not taking the easy way out and she is using cloth diaper and that helps. One change i recently made was the purchase of a reusable water bottle. As a family we have slowed down our soda consumption. We are currently not recycling and that's is something we need to start doing. I've also purchased reusable grocery bags and that's another great way to help our environment.
